The impact of vitamin D on thyroid autoimmunity and hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis activity in myo-inositol-treated and myo-inositol-naïve women with autoimmune thyroiditis: A pilot study.
Our study aimed to explore the impact of myo-inositol treatment on thyroid autoimmunity in women with autoimmune thyroiditis. We included groups of women who had been on myo-inositol for a while and those who hadn’t. For six months, we observed how vitamin D supplementation interacted with myo-inositol in affecting thyroid health and immune responses.
We found that among participants taking myo-inositol, the addition of vitamin D significantly improved insulin sensitivity and led to better outcomes regarding thyroid antibodies. Specifically, women who were already on myo-inositol showed a greater reduction in thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies when vitamin D was added to their regimen.
Interestingly, the effects of vitamin D were less noticeable in women who weren't on myo-inositol. These individuals did not exhibit the same improvements in thyroid function or antibodies. Overall, the findings suggest that myo-inositol might enhance the benefits of vitamin D, indicating a potential synergistic effect between these two agents in managing autoimmune thyroiditis.

Myo-inositol shows no benefit
Effects of different supplements on Hashimoto's thyroiditis: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.
We aimed to understand the impact of Myo-inositol on thyroid autoantibody levels in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). Our analysis included data from a systematic review of several case-control studies that explored various dietary supplements, particularly focusing on inositol's effectiveness.
Our findings revealed that while selenium supplementation significantly reduced thyroid autoantibodies, the effects of Myo-inositol were not as promising. In fact, Myo-inositol, as well as Vitamin D both alone and in combination with selenium, did not produce significant reductions in either thyroid peroxidase autoantibodies (TPOAb) or thyroglobulin autoantibodies (TgAb).
This lack of efficacy suggests that Myo-inositol may not be an effective standalone treatment for lowering autoantibody levels in autoimmune disorders like HT. Therefore, we recommend that patients focus on selenium as a more impactful supplement during their treatment journey.

Inositol's impact on autoimmune thyroid
Investigating the effect of combined use of selenium and Myo-inositol supplements on thyroid function and autoimmune characteristics in thyroid disorders: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
We set out to explore the effects of a combination of selenium and inositol on thyroid function and autoimmune characteristics in people with thyroid disorders. Through our systematic search spanning numerous databases, we reviewed studies published from 2007 to 2022, focusing on how these supplements influence thyroid health.
The results were somewhat mixed. While our findings indicated a modest increase in levels of Triiodothyronine (T3) after using both supplements, this change was not statistically significant. However, we did observe a significant increase in Thyroxine (T4) levels and a notable decrease in Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which suggests potential positive outcomes. It's important to note that the levels of Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOAb) did not show any significant change, and the overall improvements in T3 levels were not enough to substantiate a clear benefit.
Overall, our investigation reveals that adding inositol to selenium might not dramatically alter the thyroid's autoimmune activity. Still, the decrease in TSH and increase in T4 could hint at potential benefits that warrant further exploration. Given the limited number of studies in this area, more research will be essential to fully understand how inositol may affect autoimmune disorders related to thyroid health.

I've ordered from iherb for nearly 10 years with no issues. This product is remarkable; it truly boosts my immune system and contributes positively to my health. Others have noticed thicker hair, and I’ve been overall healthier, with stable health issues.
Our exploration focused on how Myoinositol, often known as Myo, impacts autoimmune disorders, particularly autoimmune thyroiditis. We learned that Myo plays a crucial role in the body's thyroid function by aiding in the production of thyroid hormones and regulating iodine, which is essential in this process.
Interestingly, when Myo was combined with Selenium in treatment, patients with subclinical hypothyroidism showed significant decreases in thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Additionally, levels of antithyroid autoantibodies also dropped, which is promising for those battling autoimmune thyroid issues.
However, it is important to note that the study did not exclusively isolate the effect of Myoinositol, as the results were observed in conjunction with Selenium. Therefore, while the findings are encouraging, we cannot definitively claim that Myo alone yields the same benefits in managing autoimmune disorders.

Myo-inositol shows inconclusive results
Sexual Function and Depressive Symptoms in Young Women with Euthyroid Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Receiving Vitamin D, Selenomethionine and Myo-Inositol: A Pilot Study.
We explored the effects of myo-inositol as part of a treatment regimen for young women with Hashimoto's thyroiditis—an autoimmune disorder. This study primarily compared the sexual functioning and depressive symptoms of women who were untreated versus those receiving various supplements including vitamin D and selenomethionine alongside myo-inositol.
While all treatment groups showed improved sexual functioning and well-being compared to the untreated women, we observed that the greatest benefits came from those receiving vitamin D. Additionally, there were no significant differences in sexual functioning and depressive symptoms between the myo-inositol and selenomethionine treatment groups.
As a result, we must note that myo-inositol's isolated effect was not clearly determined in this study due to its combination with other treatments. Therefore, while myo-inositol is seen as part of a broader therapy, its specific influence on autoimmune disorders warrants further investigation.

As a breast cancer patient, I was advised to boost my immune system with this product. I feel generally well but can't isolate which supplement is effective. Inositol may help regulate cellular signalling, which is essential in addressing my condition. I will reorder it.
An autoimmune disorder occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy cells and tissues, believing them to be foreign invaders, such as bacteria or viruses. This reaction can lead to inflammation, tissue damage, and impaired function of the affected organs. There are over 80 known autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes, each with its own specific symptoms and treatment options. The exact cause of these disorders is still unclear, but a combination of genetic, environmental, and hormonal factors is believed to play a role in their development.
Diagnosis of autoimmune disorders often involves a combination of physical examinations, assessment of symptoms, blood tests, and imaging studies to evaluate organ involvement. Treatment typically focuses on managing symptoms and controlling the immune response using medications such as corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and biologics. In addition to medication, lifestyle modifications, such as stress management and a balanced diet, can be beneficial in managing symptoms. If you suspect you have an autoimmune condition, it's important to consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and tailored treatment options.
Inositol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that plays a crucial role in cellular signaling and the structural integrity of cell membranes. It is a member of the B-vitamin complex and exists in several forms, with myo-inositol being the most prevalent in the human body. Inositol is found in various foods, including fruits, beans, grains, and nuts, and it can also be synthesized by the body from glucose. It is often marketed as a supplement for various health benefits, including mental health support, particularly for conditions like anxiety and depression, and is studied for its potential role in managing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Research suggests that inositol may help in alleviating symptoms associated with these health issues by enhancing insulin sensitivity and regulating hormonal balance. While it is generally considered safe for consumption, individuals should consult with healthcare professionals before starting any new supplement regimen, especially if they have existing health conditions or are taking other medications. As with any supplement, the effectiveness can vary from person to person, and understanding the underlying scientific evidence can guide informed choices.
Based on user reviews, the timeline for seeing results from this supplement can vary significantly between individuals. Many users report feeling improvements relatively quickly, often within a few weeks of starting the supplement. For instance, one reviewer mentioned they felt a notable improvement post-operation shortly after resuming the product, indicating a positive effect on their body’s defenses and overall health Read Review. Another user described an immediate boost in energy, stating that it helped them stay active and accomplish tasks, which suggests that some may experience benefits sooner rather than later Read Review.
However, some users may not be able to isolate the specific impact of the supplement alongside other treatments. For example, a breast cancer patient expressed that while they felt well, they couldn’t definitively attribute their condition's improvement to this supplement alone Read Review. Overall, while some can expect to see results in a short timeframe, others may take longer to notice benefits, emphasizing the personalized nature of health supplements.
When it comes to the effectiveness of Myo-inositol as a standalone treatment for autoimmune disorders, particularly Hashimoto's thyroiditis, scientific research presents a mixed picture. A study focused on Myo-inositol's impact found that, while it played a role in regulating thyroid function, its effects on lowering autoantibody levels were not significant when compared to selenium supplementation [1]. Additionally, although some research indicated potential changes in thyroid hormone levels when Myo-inositol was combined with selenium, the evidence did not strongly support a clear benefit in reducing autoimmune activity [2].
Moreover, Myo-inositol’s isolated effects remain uncertain due to its frequent combination with other treatments, such as vitamin D, which has shown to enhance some beneficial outcomes in autoimmune thyroid conditions [5]. Overall, while Myo-inositol may offer some advantages as part of a broader treatment plan, its standalone efficacy for autoimmune disorders is not robustly supported by current scientific studies, highlighting the need for further investigation in this area.
Users have reported a range of significant improvements in their symptoms while using this product, particularly concerning immune support and overall health. One reviewer highlighted a noticeable enhancement in their body's defenses after resuming the supplement post-operation for cancer, which they attributed to the benefits of IP-6 and Inositol Read Review. Another user mentioned that this product helped boost their immune system, allowing them to feel healthier and manage existing health issues more effectively Read Review.
Beyond cancer support, users also reported improvements in energy levels and general vitality. For instance, one user shared that the supplement provided the necessary energy boost to remain active and complete daily tasks after experiencing fatigue Read Review. Additionally, anecdotal evidence from one pet owner described noticeable changes in their dog's alertness and overall cheerfulness after introducing the supplement, suggesting benefits may extend beyond humans Read Review. While these positive outcomes are encouraging, it’s important to remember that individual results can vary based on personal health conditions and circumstances.
Users have reported various experiences when combining this supplement with other products aimed at managing autoimmune disorders. Several individuals noted that while this supplement appeared to enhance their immune system and overall health, they often found it challenging to pinpoint specific benefits solely attributable to it. For example, a breast cancer patient mentioned feeling generally well but expressed uncertainty about which supplement was most effective in their regimen Read Review. This sentiment reflects a common experience among users who are part of complex treatment plans where multiple supplements and medications are utilized simultaneously.
On a more positive note, users have reported significant synergies with this supplement alongside others, particularly anti-cancer supplements. One user shared that increasing their intake of various anti-cancer supplements, including this one, resulted in improvements in their health markers Read Review. Another user highlighted how this product helped manage fatigue and supported their active lifestyle, indicating a positive impact on energy levels that could also interplay effectively with other health support methods Read Review. Overall, while many users affirm the supplement's benefits, the individualized nature of health responses makes it essential for those considering it to closely monitor their results when used with other treatments.
